Homeschool Curriculum Review
As a homeschooler, I am always looking for interesting, challenging and fun products to make our learning adventure better and more efficient. I am also always on the look out for things that teach, but the kids think of as games and play. Recently, I have found a product that is an awesome homeschool resource to use as either a core curriculum or as a supplemental.
Time 4 Learning is quite a comprehensive online program for elementary through middle school grades. Each child receives a log-on and is lead through activities and lesson plans in Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. The parent also has access as an administrator to set minimum and maximum lesson times, full lesson plans including, teaching guides, worksheets, and answer keys. There is also a parent forum and extensive help section.
The curriculum itself is very entertaining and yet thorough. My children loved playing the games and doing the lesson plans in addition to the subjects and topics we were already covering. There is also a playground where kids can enjoy "video game" type educational games. In a "Webkinz" like fashion, the games are fun, interactive and addictive! Another wonderful feature is the ability to set time limits for the playground and also lesson time.
If you are looking for a supplement for your homeschool curriculum or maybe a complete curriculum, Time 4 Learning is a welcome addition to any home. It is affordable for what it offers. In my home, where I often feel a stretch to find and utilize interactive computer learning during our down time, this is a welcome addition!

Why the Name Change.....
Well, though we are not the "Doolittle" Family... We love the orginal "Dr. Doolittle" movie from 1967. The crazy adventures, love of learning, and joyful, optimistic lifestyle match our family to a tee. Enjoy!

Favorite Bible Curriculum and Tools...
So many of you have asked what my fav's for bible curriculum are. The first list are the things we do everyday for Bible/Devotion/Family Worship Time. The second list is some other options that I like. I provided links to look at them. If I have not included your favorite, please add to the list!!
1. NiRV for daily bible reading- This gets the word into their minds and hearts and there is no fluff. Just the word.
2. One-Year Bible for Children - Same idea but this book has questions for discussion and things to help them remember the concept.
3. Training Hearts Teaching Minds - Devotional book based on the Westminster Shorter Catechism. Read this to discover why this is an important daily part and imperative to teaching your children .
4. Truth and Grace Memory Book - Scripture memory, Hymn Memory and Boys and Girls Catechism. There are 3 books all together to take you from age 2-high school. By the time they finish book 1 which is age 2-4th grade, they will have many different pillars of our faith, hymns and various foundational verses memorized, including The Lord's Prayer, Psalm 23, The Christmas Story, Psalm 8, 10 commandments, books of the bible, Jesus resurrection story, the Beatitudes, the Apostle's Creed, Psalm 19 and Psalm 119. You can start with the first book age 2 and there are lists for each age. Since we started late, we just began with the age 2 things and are moving up as they finish, making sure to review. The catechism has been adapted from the Heidelburg Catechism and Baptist Catechism(For another, though extremely lengthy, yet indepth anaylsis and encouragement of using a catechism, click here ).
List 2
1. Grapevine Studies - Chronological Bible Curriculum that uses stick figuring to memorize important events throughout scripture.
2. Kay Arthur's Discover the Bible for Yourself for Kids series - Probably good for 3rd grade and up. Great studies!!
3. Leading Little Ones to God - Great Book for younger kids.
4. Ergemeirs Childrens Bible - Wonderful Bible for Little ones.
5. The Family Worship Book - Invaluable resource for learning how to lead and do family worship time.
If you have any questions, please let me know! Have a great day!
